There are numerous bus stations located throughout the city, all with Air Conditioned shelters. The main bus terminals are located at Ghubaiba, Gold Souk, Satwa, Al Quoz, Karama, Rashidiya and Al Qusais, and your Nol card will get you around without the need to worry about having the correct change.
