Final Reminder: Grace Period For Visa Renewal Ends On 10 October
Updated on 07 October 2020

UAE residents, whose visas expired between 1 March and 11 July, must renew their visas and Emirates IDs before the grace period ends on 10 October.

After the deadline, overstay fines will apply to those residents in the country who failed to renew their visas.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship posted a reminder for all residents on its social media channels: “Reminder: If you are entitled to the UAE ID renewal deadline during the COVID-19 pandemic precautionary measures, you are required to expedite the renewal process of your UAE ID (EID) before 11 October 2020.”

In July, the UAE Cabinet had announced a three-month grace period for GCC passport holders and UAE residents to renew their visas and residency documents.

The extension applied to individuals living in the country with visas that had expired between 1 March and 11 July.

As a prerequisite for visa renewal, residents are required to undergo a medical test.

Visa validity can be verified on the website of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship:

Dubai residents can check on the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs portal.

Violation of residency visa rules incurs a fine of AED 25 per day, and an additional AED 250 will be imposed when leaving the country.

Individuals sponsoring dependents or housemaids should check the portals for all visa renewal information.
