Updated on 06 August 2017

1. Hopfest

Back for the 13th year this September, The Irish Village’s Hopfest means hop fans get to sample some of the best hops from around the world. The three-day festival, held inside a giant marquee with air conditioning, will include as many as 100 brands from countries such as Ireland, Belgium, Australia and Italy. Expect it to be one large party with three bands - The Maplejacks, Roadie and Fixer - performing over the weekend, plus DJ Marky Mark spinning killer tunes. Tickets from Dhs 45. When: 7 - 9 September. www.theirishvillage.com

2. Gala concert

Classical music enthusiasts are in for a treat as Marlis Petersen gives a gala concert, enthralling them with her charismatic performances and crystal-clear voice. Performing in tandem is the respected pianist Camillo Radicke, known for his legendary recitals. The event takes place at One&Only Royal Mirage’s Royal Ballroom. When: 8 September. www.dcc.ae

3. Don Giovanni

Dark, dramatic and surprisingly funny in some parts, many consider the story of Don Giovanni to be the greatest opera ever written. This collaborative piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte combines the story of Don Giovanni’s dark desires with divine intervention and how no bad deed goes unpunished. The whole performance is enhanced by the dazzling score of arias and intense duets from the maestro Mozart himself. The show takes place at Dubai Opera. Ticket prices start from Dhs 350. When: 9 - 16 September. www.dubaiopera.com
