Updated on 30 April 2019

If you have lived in Dubai for some time, you will be familiar with the name of JW Marriott Dubai in Deira, known for being one of the oldest luxury hotels in the emirate.

However, a statement released by hospitality group Marriott International has revealed that the operations at JW Marriott Dubai in Deira will be suspended from 12 May, 2019.

The statement did not state the exact reasons behind the suspension and has simply referred to “circumstances beyond our control”.

The official statement read, “Marriott International has found it necessary to suspend operations at the JW Marriott Dubai in Deira due to circumstances beyond our control that have interfered with our ability to continue to operate the hotel. The hotel will not be open for business as of midnight (GST) on Sunday, 12 May 2019. We are working closely with impacted associates, guests and business partners and taking steps to promote a smooth transition."

"Any questions about the circumstances resulting in the suspension of hotel operations of the hotel should be directed to the hotel owner."

Located close to the Dubai International Airport, the hotel features 10 restaurants and bars including popular steakhouse JW’s Steakhouse; Champions Sports Bar, and Hofbrahaus, a German restaurant.
