The results are in! The Google results that is! A list of the UAE’s most Google-searched terms for 2018 has been released. As we reflect on the events of the past year, this list is hardly surprising, but take a look and see for yourself!

1. World Cup

The Russia-hosted tournament took place in July this year, with France winning the title.

2. Indian Premier League 2018

The Indian Premier League saw the Chennai Super Kings win in India.

3. Sridevi Kapoor

Sridevi Kapoor was an Indian actress and producer who tragically died in Dubai in February this year.

Priyanka Chopra has been in and out of the news this year, with her marriage to popstar Nick Jonas creating a buzz.

5. Passport Index

The UAE passport took the number one spot as the most powerful in the world.

6. Fortnite

The online video game first released in 2017 has over 78.3 million players per month.

7. Bitcoin Price

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, a form of electronic cash with millions of investors worldwide. 1 Bitcoin equates to Dhs 11,878.

8. Federal Tax Authority (FTA)

The UAE introduced Value Added Tax on 1 January this year.

9. Indian currency rate

The Indian Rupee to UAE Dirham rate has fluctuated this year, with a drop from 1 INR = Dhs 0.057 in January to 1 INR = Dhs 0.049 in October.
